  • Dakota Digital can bus not working with GPS box

    I am building a rock crawler and I installed a Pro Flo 4 system on my 350. That all runs and operates great. I am also installing a set of Dakota Digital gauges. They are the VHX series gauges. Along with that I am installing the BIM-01-2-EDBK and the GPS-05-2. With all of those boxes hooked together the gauges would not read RPM and temp through the CAN BUS. If I hook up a wire and run from the tach led off the harness into the VHX main box I do get RPM signal. So I know my gauges do work.

    Now I disconnected the GPS box and turned everything on to read through CAN BUS and now everything works as it should. Plug the GPS box back in and now it no longer reads RPM and temp again.

    Go through and reset the ID per the instructions in the Edelbrock bridge module and still does not work.

    Has anyone ran into this issue or have any insight on the problem. It's driving me crazy.

    Make sure you are using Firmware version 53 or later to get proper CANBUS data comms.

        Any thing else connected to CAN?

        Trans controller?

          No. The CAN is only ran to the dakota digital box for the gauges. This is a pretty simple set up for my rock crawler. It's a 350 with the edelbrock system hooked to a TH350, NP203/dana 300 doubler.

            What CAN adapter harness are you using ?
            Don't get too caught up in the numbers.

                I have not had a chance to call Dakota today. Been one of those days. I plan on calling them tomorrow.

                I am using the Deutsch DTM 4 way connector.

                The gauge does read through the CAN BUS if I take out the Dakota GPS speed box. So if it's just the Dakota gauge box and the Dakota edelbrock box everything works as it should.

                  I wonder if it's a matter of of how they are wired? Like the GPS has to be first or last in the chain. all the cars I have done, use the speed transducer for speed.

                    Just my .02. Did you install an “End of line resister”? It would go after DD gauges.
