  • PF-4 Fuel Supply Setup

    Hello Edelbrock
I recently purchased a PF-4 system for AMC V8, on the top of page 4 of the installation instructions it shows a fuel system diagram for Edelbrock accessory fuel system kit #3604 on that diagram the fuel pressure regulator is just after the high pressure fuel filter, can that regulator be in the rear of the system just in front of the fuel tank, that would eliminate a long return fuel line. Will that setup work for a forced induction power add on for 600 HP or do I need a return fuel line from the fuel rails? My preference is not to install a fuel sump kit like Edelbrock #36031.

If planning to go F.I. , Sump is not recommended.

The 3604 is a return style system. You can mount the regulator any place you want.
Having it mounted closer to the rail & vac. source is most preferred.

Don't get too caught up in the numbers.
Just give the Engine what it wants &
Let the numbers be what they are.

I am back to installing the fuel system for my AMC the HP level is still in the 550 - 600 HP range with 60 lb. injectors and RPM limit of 5800 this is a boosted engine. There is an aftermarket fuel sending module available with a single 3/8" line set at 58 PSI and 305 LPH flow that recirculates in the tank instead of a return line, running a return line creates a lot of extra work because of other modification to the car the single line sending unit is mostly a stock type unit with little modifications needed will this work for my application?

      Thanks

You do realize that you can't use a 58psi Calibration map with that.
You can only use the 43's.

It's been a few years since I read the entire manual, the same company that makes the EFI fuel sending unit also has an adjustable regulator available for that.

I checked in the installation and quick start manuals it shows the options for selecting fuel pressure as 43-45 or 58-60 also under forced induction there is the option to select those values. Please explain why the calibration maps won't work.

In a boosted application the fuel pressure goes up with each pound of boost.
So if you start out with 58psi, and say you make 10pounds of boost. Then you need 69psi of fuel pressure.

So I have no choice but to setup with a return fuel line then select 43 lbs. fuel pressure, the wizard map shows a CAL ID 5110 for a 405 CU engine I have 224 intake duration and 236 exhaust duration @ .050" lift, from those settings the fuel pressure under boost will be increased by the PCM and the 58 lb. pump would be fine?

How much boost are you going to make?

I have a TorqStorm supercharger I won't know the amount of boost or idle vacuum until I have it running, once I know those I will be able to dial it in better. There is a shop with a chassis dyno down the street I will bring my car there for finish dial in after a few hundred miles. I built full length sub-frame connectors 3/16" thick steel with holes for one fuel line to pass through I will end up cutting another set of through holes.

                    Thanks
