I'm looking for some ideas as to what to look for to fix a problem I'm having w/ my 79 CJ5, AMC304, Pro-Flo 3531. The 3531 has been on the Jeep for about 3.5 years and has been running good. Last weekend, while driving home, after 4-wheeling during the day, the engine started running rough like it was getting getting fuel. Ended up getting it towed. Now, I can't find anything that could be the problem. Thought it was bad fuel, drained the tank and put new fuel in, same problem. If I hook the calibration unit up, the RPMs jump around, even showing negative numbers, the voltage jumps as well. If I put a timing light on the engine, the timing also jumps around. Voltage seems to be good through out. Any ideas on what to look at? I have access to another 3531 that was setup for another 304 with the same components and swapped the ECU, but that didn't help either. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like a distributor issue. Try swapping the distributor with the other kit, if it works give our tech line a call and we can help you with the original distributor.

Thank you. I have the other distributor and will swap in the next couple days when the weather warms up some.

The distributor was the problem. Will call in to see what we can do w/ the old one. GLad I had the spare parts.
