Hello new to the forum here. I see Im the first in this section. I had a few questions about upgrading my 326. I realise its not a popular hotrod engine but id like to keep it as its the original block for my 67 firebird. I dont really know where to start but I do have a few ideas of what id like to do. looking to upgrade on the heads and add efi as well as a charger. But Id like to be able to have the car look stock with the hood closed. Upgrading the cam as well. Basically im looking for suggestion or ideas of where to start on the efi and charger. What to look for and buy. Not looking a super horse power engine here just some kick.

I ran a 326 for awhile in my 66 Tempest and the lower end is not the best in the world. I usually go for the extreme so I found a 455 out of a 73 Cataline and it gave me great performance and reliability till the balancer blew up and chewed the end of the crank.
Anyway, think about using a 400 for you Bird. It was an original option for the car, better reliability for the bottom end and more Hp/Tq for the money.
As for the power upgrades, Fuel injection is nice but it depends on what you want. If your planning to race more than drive, look into a good Victor intake from Edelbrock but for just driving around and mild racing, Performer RPM is great. I only wish Edelbrock made a fuel injection unit in kit form for Pontiac. Why they make it for AMC I will never know but my good friend with a 73 Javelin is loving it. Hope I helped.
