I am planning the installation of my new ProFlo2 system in my 67 Camaro Convertible. It has a 327 and 5 speed manual trans. I would like to get some tips on the best wiring harness routing for the ProFlo2. It is a very long harness. The instructions say to bore a hole in the firewall, however, I am stumped as to the best way to proceed due to the configuration and length of the harness.

Does anyone have the experience of installing this system in a first gen Camaro? Tips on where to mount the ECU, location of the firewall hole(s) and cleanest routing of the harness? Photos would be very much appreciated.

Thanks very much!

The harness is meant to go through the firewall somewhere between the passenger side fender well and the engine. Most people mount the ECU somewhere in the passenger side kick panel area or up under the dash near the back of the glove box. Every car is different though.

After looking at the engine compartment, it looks like the cleanest installation would mean routing the harness along the firewall above the heater core and into the right side fender. I would like to avoid cuting a hole in the firewall and threading the harness through there if possible.

There is lots of harness provided with this kit. The EFI computer harness could be threaded inside of the right side fender behind the wheel well. The ECU could then be comfortably mounted high under the fender just in front of the right front wheel. (This would be similar to the way the relay board for the RS headlights is mounted inside the left side fender.) It would be away from moisture and vibration would be limited. Since this is a So California Car that will not see overly cold or hot or inclement weather and will be garage kept, I am thinking that it will be a safe mounting for the EFI computer.

Your thoughts?.......

That location would work fine. Ideally, it would be mounted inside the car but we've done a few installations where we didn't want to hack up the firewall either. Passenger side fenderwell area works well.

Thanks for the confirmation on the wiring harness routing. The harness really looks like it is configured for mounting inside the right side fender and I am glad that the environment will be acceptable for the electronics. That will be my plan.
