View Full Version : Ignition Harness.

I cannot find any details in regard to the fitting of the ignition harness. I have 2 connectors that obviously attach to the distributor, and a fitting that attaches to the main harness. Then I'm at a stand still. A black wire with a terminal end is presumably is a ground, and 2 bare wires again I think for ground. That leaves me with a red wire with a yellow stripe, red wire with a spiral yellow stripe, black wire with a spiral white stripe, and a 4 pin connector.
Any info would be a great help.
Many Thanks.

Your installation manual should describe the ignition harness installation. See page 4 in the link above and if you still have questions, let us know.

Sorry, sometimes one feels like an idiot. I only downloaded
the larger instructions which did not contain the detail. My
apologies.

My system is installed, we are now going through the wiring/sensors etc. In a previous question I asked about the wiring of an MSD Ignition. You advised that the wires that would normally be attached to the coil are used as an input to the ignition box. Question. Is the system ignition amplifier still plugged into the system, I was of the impression that the MSD Ignition acted as an amplifier.

You need to keep the ignition amplifier. The output from the Pro Tuner ignition amplifier drives the MSD. There is a diagram on wiring an MSD on page 5 of your Quick Start Guide.

Page 4 of the on-line manual shows the wiring with the ignition amplifier that's included with the Pro Tuner kit, page 5 shows the wiring of the MSD 6A. Do I wire both or do I only need one of them? Right now, my set up looks like the diagram on pg 4, without the MSD 6A.

Thanks,

Joe

You must keep the ignition module on the first generation ProFlo.The ignition module is what triggers the MSD.

The ProFlo_2 does not use the red ignition module and can drive the MSD direct from the ECU.

I assume this is the same for the Pro Tuner (PN 3670)? I wire the ignition amplifier (from the kit) into the MSD 6A and then into the coil?

The wiring diagram for the Pro Tuner is located on page 5 of your quick start guide.
