Have a protuner on bb chevy wired currently with only the edelbrock amplifier installed. Do I need the msd box installed also? Motor pulls to about 6500 or so...with about 750 or so hp.

At 6500 RPM max you should be OK. Around 7200 you start running out of available dwell time and would need the MSD. We've made over 900 with just the amplifier and no MSD.
