Bought this manifold and among other problems have now found that it wont fit down between the heads. This is down to the vertical pieces on the cylinder heads just below the valve covers before it becomes the mating faces for the inlet manifold. Is it common place to have to "file" off to a flat vertical 2 approximately 3-3 mm in from each side? Otherwise the manifold wont sit down onto the mating faces.
My conversion is becoming a bit of a nightmare now. I discovered this when trial fitting for bonnet clearance to see whether I require to buy a full set of pico style injectors - which I now have to. After which I will require to add holes to the fuel rail mount to bring it down to the correct distance from the manifold.

Update.
Bought a belt sander and removed approx. 2mm from the side edges of the manifold and it now sits down between my heads. I am using 351W(early 70's) heads on my engine. This might not be a problem if aftermarket heads are used.

Just to add more info.
There are 2 small flats at each end of the sides. If you use these to mark the middle two ports using a steel rule this gives the guide on how much to remove. ie. take off back to these flats.

You are correct about the factory heads vs. racing heads having a higher port roof line. We always feel its better to leave a little metal for removal than to have some customers who need to add metal (welding and machining).

If you don't want to modify your stands (add hole 24mm below existing and trim) we have the Pico stands sold separately as PN 3619.

Once your done, you are going to love the results... the Super Victor has a such a nice tall flowpath...

Good luck with the project.

Thanks CE.
I found that part number for the shorter brackets just the other night.
