Hello,
I am interested in doing a rather unorthodox setup.
I have a '93 Silverado with a 350. I have added Vortec heads, flattop pistons, mild Crower cam and balanced the rotating assembly to give the truck some additional towing grunt and also to make it entertaining.
After years of fighting (I built this engine in '05) I have given up on the TBI. I was about to put a carburetor on the truck when I discovered that TPI Camaro guys were taking factory '0411 PCMs out of Express vans with Vortec 350's and along with some other parts were making them work (rather well I might add) with TPI's, Holley Stealth Rams, etc. I then discovered what it would cost to get a complete TPI setup and make it work on Vortec heads and balked. I then noticed this Pro Flo XT manifold and that the entire manifold was about the same cost as the TPI base for Vortec heads.
I have some questions about it though:
1) In order for this Frankenstein to work I have to run the Vortec 350 (L31 truck/van) distributor, as the cam position sensor for this setup is built into it. Will it fit with the Pro Flo XT? There was a thread on this before but it ended before this detail was made clear.
2) Would I have to run an Edelbrock proprietary throttle body or would a factory LS throttle body work? I have seen claims on other forums that they bolt on but I'd like a definitive answer from the source.
3) Will the PICO injectors (or Siemens) that Edelbrock offers on their rails that fit this manifold work with the factory computer? The one I'm using is from a 2001/02 Chevy Express van, but was also used on early LS1's and LS trucks. If not, are the injectors spaced such that the stock TPI/LT1 injectors and rails could be used?
About how much am I looking to spend for manifold, rails, injectors, and throttle body if I buy all of that from Edelbrock?
Thanks!
