I am looking at purchasing a "short" 383 stroked sbc crate motor with Edelbrock ETEC 200 #60989 heads from a local dealer. I want to fit your Pro Flo XT EFI Manfold, however all your full crate motors appear to have ETEC 170 heads. Is there a difference in the manifold part number required? Secondly, the crate has a GM cam #12370846. What cam do you recommend for this head / manifold combo - the motor will be fitted in a street driven ( occasional strip use ) 1972 C10 chevrolet 2wd pickup, with a 12 bolt rear currently end running stock truck ( 4:11? ) gears. I am looking for low end torque for the street. Thanks in advance.

We use E-Tec 200 heads on our 383 signature series crate engine. You should be fine there manifold wise. The cam you mentioned has 222 deg of intake duration at 0.050". It will work fine but might be a little small for those heads. For comparison, we use our 2207 cam on our 383 with the E-Tec 200's. It has 242 deg of intake duration at 0.050" lift. This combo makes 460 hp and 460 ft-lbs but most of that power doesn't start coming in until above 3500 RPM. It has a pretty lopey idle and would definitely need a high stall converter. Idle vacuum is around 10"-11" at 1000 RPM...kind of on the edge for power brakes. It's a screamer though.
What kind of transmission do you have?
